Jonathan Groff Travolta-fied Idina Menzel’s Introduction At The Tonys, And It Was Amazing

Jonathan Groff introduces Idina Menzel at Tonys 2014

Last night Jonathan Groff was tasked with introducing Idina Menzel's performance at the 2014 Tony Awards. When it comes to introducing Idina Menzel at award shows, John Travolta kind of set the bar three months ago at the Oscars by introducing us to “the wick-edly talented, one and only Adele Dazeem.” Because Jonathan Groff is charming and adorable, he made sure to pay tribute to Mr. Travolta's legendary introduction, and it was glorious.

I'll never forget the first time I heard the name Adele Dazeem. And I think the rest of the world would say the same for themselves. Adele united us as humans. Little did we know when John Travolta stepped onto the stage that night that our lives would be changed forever. It took me two weeks after that to fully stop laughing. I'd be going about my day and suddenly I'd hear Travolta's voice in my head and I was a goner. I got a six-pack thanks to all that laughter. That's right, thanks to John Travolta's aversion to memorizing a name coupled with his inability to read a teleprompter, I'm now a hottie with a body.

Jonathan thankfully drew the line at mispronouncing Idina's name (although if I were him I'd have to try really hard not to flub it — Adele Dazeem is that real for me now), but his Travolta reference is undeniable. Is it possible for Jonathan to win an honorary Tony for his spot-on impression of Travolta's pronunciation of “wickedly”? He really nails that “I didn't rehearse this at all, but is this supposed to be a reference to something? Should I be emphasizing a specific part of this word here?” style of talking. Watch for yourself below, and then go work on finding a place big enough to store your enormous crush on Jonathan Groff.
