James Franco Wants To Incorporate Drag Artist Into ‘General Hospital’

By  |

When James Franco signed on to appear in General Hospital a second time, it just confirmed our belief that James is either a brilliant prankster performance artist, or absolutely insane, or both. We know how much the actor likes weird art, considering he was first in line at the MoMa to stare at Marina Abramović, and he's getting about 400 degrees at once, and still starring in movies…so why bother with something as “lowbrow” as General Hospital? Especially because, you know, been there, done that.

But now we sort of get where James is going…he's going to try to elevate General Hospital into “art” by stipulating that his cameo must involve his short film collaboration with queer performance artist Kalup Linzy, who specializes in drag recreations of soap operas.

We wonder how the GH producers are going to fit in Kalup's video into their show's storyline, but we have the uncanny sense that Franco never takes on anything without a hidden agenda…even when his choices seem totally random and absurd.
