James Franco Tries To Explain His Naked Selfie, Continues To Pretend He Doesn’t Understand Instagram

Oh James Franco, what are we going to do with you? Last night James stopped by The Late Show With David Letterman to discuss what's going on in his life at the moment. One thing that's going on is he's posting shirtless selfies of himself with his hand in his underwear. That's the kind of thing that could use an explanation, but unfortunately this is James Franco we're talking about, so an explanation really just involves turning up the dial on the confusion meter.

James continues to act like he doesn't understand how the hell Instagram works or that he's a famous movie star people pay attention to. He also continues to make everything way more complicated than it should be. Dave is like, “Hey, why do you enjoy Instagram so much?” and James rubs his eyes in exasperation (and no doubt exhaustion from staying up all night perfecting his Renaissance man impression) and is like, “There's a lot to get through, and I don't even know if we have time.”

James then defends his underwear photos by saying, “It not like I'm putting that on billboards. Ostensibly Instagram is for my fans, but now all the bloggers are following me on there.” Really? Really? It took him this long to understand that Instagram isn't some sort of exclusive club for just the people who admire James Franco to stare at his creepy selfies and politely agree not to share them with the rest of the world? Just like he misunderstood Instagram so much it caused him to hit on a 17-year-old girl and then act offended that he got found out? James finishes up by saying, “It's what the people want.” Is it though, James? What people are you referring to?
