Lady Sovereign

Meet Lady Sovereign, the self-proclaimed "biggest midget in the game." She's 20 years old, but since this baby faced-rapper is only 5'1", people often mistake her for something she's not -- an angel. Lady Sovereign is rap's newest rebel, and she's representing for little people all over the globe. This loud-mouthed London emcee is a force to be reckoned with, and the people of England aren't the only one's showing this little lady lots of love. After making a name for herself in the U.K., it was only a matter of time before her speedy, tripped-out take on rhyming caught on in the U.S. Music mogul and rap legend, Jay-Z felt her flow so much that he sought her out, had one sit-down with her camp, and immediately signed her to Def Jam. Her new single, "Hoodie" is red hot and burning up the charts. "I'm all about standing up for the hoodie," says Sov, who is seriously anti anything typically female. Her new EP, Blah, Blah just dropped last month and her stylized cuts are already ripping through radio airwaves. Sov has put a fresh spin on rap music and our usual questions. Check her out!

What bothers you most about being a girl?
When people think you have to wear dresses and things like that. The whole way that people look down on you for not wanting to be "feminine." I'm far from that. I haven't worn a dress in about 13 years.

What do you like most about being a girl?
I don't know. All I know is that I wouldn't change it for nothing, and that's that.
