Watch Some Of Heath Ledger’s Last Interviews On What Would Have Been His 33rd Birthday

Heath Ledger last interview I'm Not There The Dark Knight Joker death 33rd birthdayIf he were alive today, Heath Ledger would be turning 33. His death is still shocking, and it's hard to believe that it's already been four years since he was found unresponsive in his New York City apartment. I had just started sophomore year at NYU and couldn't believe that this actor I had admired, crushed on, and idolized was dead just blocks away.

But even as it's still unclear how or why he passed, all we can do is remember his legacy. I came across this video on YouTube, which cuts together what look to be some of his last interviews. Most of them are from a press day for I'm Not There, the ensemble biopic where Heath and actors like Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett took turns channeling Bob Dylan.

What's funny is that most of the reporters want to talk about Heath's work as the Joker in The Dark Knight, which came out in the summer of 2008. At the time of these interviews, however, it sounds as if we hadn't yet been exposed to Heath's masterful performance; he gives hints and talks about inspiration, but doesn't delve too deeply into it.

It's fitting that we should watch him ruminate on what would ironically become a career-making role right before he died far too young. So, enjoy this and tell us in the comments which roles of his you'll always treasure. (On the sillier end of things, A Knight's Tale and 10 Things I Hate About You come to mind.)
