J.K. Rowling Releases More Harry Potter Content, Is Just As Addicted To It As We Are

J.K. Rowling yeah I think I'm finished GIFThe final Harry Potter book was released over seven years ago, in 2007, but J.K. Rowling can't stop won't stop releasing new content for it. It's enough to make a gal think she might be just as obsessed with the series as we are.

As dutiful readers will recall, J.K. recently gave us a glimpse at what Harry and Ron and Hermione's lives are like now, with an update supposedly penned by Rita Skeeter for The Daily Prophet. That little ‘where are they now' feature was enough of a treat, but now she's  done it again, hiding a little Easter egg with back story on the character Celestina Warbeck in a level of Pottermore.

I don't know if you're one of those nerds SUPER COOL PEOPLE LIKE ME who have an account, but if you do you can find this hidden gem in Chamber of Secrets, chapter four (Flourish & Blotts), in a moment called ‘Floo Powder'. Or you can just log in, and the site will just tell you all that on its own. Once you're there, click on the radio on the left side of the fireplace, and you're off! It opens a dialogue box that gives you a bunch of background on how Celestina got her start as a singing sensation in the wizarding world and even lets you hear her song ‘You Stole My Cauldron But You Can't Have My Heart', which you should definitely check out.

But even more interesting to me was the little note from J.K. herself, describing where the character came from:

“Celestina is one of my favourite ‘off-stage' characters in the whole series, and has been part of the Potter world ever since its inception, making an early appearance in the short-lived ‘Dailiy Prophet' series I produced for members of the equally short-lived fan club run by my British publisher, BLoomsbury. Although we never lay eyes on Celestina during the whole seven volumes of the Potter books, I always imagined her to resemble Shirley Bassey in both looks and style. I stole her first name from a friend with whom I worked, years ago, at Amnesty International's Headquarters in London; ‘Celestina' was simply begging to be scooped up and attached to a glamorous witch.”

Man, with the rate that J.K. is still turning out new material, I feel like if we hold out for long enough, I suspect she'll build the whole damn school and just start enrolling students at Hogwarts. And if that happens, you best believe I'll be first in line.
