Welp, Here’s Why Gwyneth Paltrow Didn’t Want That Vanity Fair Article Published

Gwyneth Paltrow attending Thanks For Sharing premiere September 2013

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard the exciting news that sentient kale chip Gwyneth Paltrow was freaking out about an article Vanity Fair was planning to publish about her. I was sitting exactly in this chair, doing exactly what I'm doing now, and I remember it like it was yesterday. Because it was.

Yes that's right, a mere twenty-four hours ago I was exulting in lines like, “Vanity Fair is threatening to put me on the cover of their magazine', which Gwyneth apparently wrote in an email to her friends when she found out her past was being dug into. Nigh but one moon ago, I was wondering what could possibly have frothed Gwynnie into this much of a tizzy, and now, we already have our answer. That was fast.

According to Page Six, a likely angle being pursued by the magazine is a possible romantic relationship between Gwyneth and a man named Jeff Soffer, a Miami billionaire who recently married Elle Macpherson.

“Vanity Fair is asking if Gwyneth had an affair with Jeff back in 2008 when he reopened the Fontainebleau. He flew her in for the party, and she stayed at his house.”

Now, if you'll recall, Gwyneth has been married to her own husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin since 2003, so any sort of dilly-dallying that may or may not have happened in 2008 falls firmly within the timeline of her marriage. However, it was rumored to have been on the rocks at the time, enough so that her rep felt compelled to respond to the allegations by saying, “Jeff Soffer is a friend of Gwyneth.”

Short. To the point. And they elaborated on it only slightly when providing a comment for the same allegations surfacing again in 2013:

“Jeff is a longtime friend of Gwyneth’s and there was no romantic relationship with him at all, He flew many of his friends to Miami that weekend – not just Gwyneth.”

Only time will tell what it says in the article, because editor in chief Graydon Carter says it will be going forward, in the hands of Vanity Fair writer Vanessa Grigoriadis. Another rumored topic is her fall-out with former best friend Madonna, but I'm really hoping it has something to do with a secret underground McDonalds that she had built under her house and visits every day after she goes to the gym.
