Apple Martin Appears Oblivious To The Unique Baby Name Trend She Started

By  |

A rarely sighted Apple Martin got photographed with her mother Gwyneth Paltrow.  Unlike some celebrity children who are in our faces every single day (because I may or may not go looking for them), Apple Martin remains a mystery.

Who is she? What's her favorite color? Does she know that she started the insane celebrity baby naming trend by simply being born?

No seriously, I want to know if she's aware that before she existed, celebrity children received run-of-the-mill names. Names that wouldn't make you think twice. Names so common that I fear some celebrity children may have been forced to go by their first name, last initial during school. Pity the child named Sarah, for she will always be known as Sarah First Letter of her Last Name.

When Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin named their baby Apple, it made headlines. “Why that's not a name, that's a fruit!” we all exclaimed. However now, 7 years later, we see apples in the grocery store and think to ourselves, “how funny to name a fruit after a celebrity child!”

Apple sparked a trend among celebrities to go for a different kind of name for their child. A name that no one else would have and in some cases, no one would else would be able to spell.

Seven years later we're so used to these names that we're actually thrown for a loop when we hear that a celebrity couple decided to go for a more standard non-famous name.

When Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck decided to go with “Samuel,” we made endless jokes about how he would teased for not having a name inspired by a drunken game of Mad Libs. That's how much things have changed since Apple Martin first arrived.

I just hope she knows that she single-handily changed the way we name her children. And she did before she could even lift her head.
