Crushable Exclusive: An Interview With The Talented Greyson Chance

By  |

The young and talented Greyson Chance defines the phrase “up-and-coming star” and was a natural choice for our Most Crushable Guys Under 25 list.  At only 14-years-old, he's accomplished more with his talents than us regular non-piano playing folks can ever hope to accomplish in a lifetime. (If you think that sounds dramatic, you should just read some of the comments on his fan forum.)

Not only did he release his debut album, “Hold on ‘Til The Night“, this past summer but he also launched his acting career on the hit show Raising Hope. And just in case you forgot where he started, Ellen found him on Youtube. The same site that launched Justin Bieber‘s career. Is he the next big tween idol? After interviewing him about his career, ambitions and crushes, I'm hoping that the answer is yes.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Greyson Chance: I would have to say Dianna Agron from Glee. She’s absolutely gorgeous and she has an amazing voice.

Do you think of yourself as crushworthy?

You know, when I found out [about being included on the Crushable 25 list], I texted my friends. But I don’t think about it a lot, I guess to my fans I am.

On a scale from  1-10, how enthusiastic are your fans? Do they have a nickname like the Beliebers?

Very very insane, very fun. They come to shows fully prepared.. they can get crazy every once in a while, I support the crazy.

What’s the best thing about Ellen DeGeneres?

Such an amazing person, she’s guided me through the process, given me amazing advice, and showed me how to do  it all. She’s become a great mentor and a great friend.

What’s a normal day like for you when you're not recording or performing?

I’m so lazy because I never have off time, so I usually sleep late, wake up at 1, watch TV all day. I guess sleep and rest and catch up with my family.

What’s the most annoying thing about being famous?

Not being able to go to malls. Especially if I go after school…one girl will be like “It's him” and then another girl will say “It’s not” and then she’ll be like “No  it’s him,” then people follow me around.

 What’s your dream career?

If I could just keep on making music, that's all I really want to do. I just really love going into the studio making music and going out on tour, it’s pretty incredible.

If you could have anyone’s career path, who would it be?

Because I play the piano, probably Elton John. He just does what he always loved to do: sit down at a piano and play music

What was the best part of acting on Raising Hope?

It was very interesting, shooting starts extremely early. The coolest thing is TV is such a big project and I don’t think people really realize it. Thousands of people are on set, props are everywhere, people are making costume changes, hair people, make up people, such a great process to put into a 30 minute show. Secondly, the people on Raising Hope are so nice and kind.

What’s your next upcoming project?

I'm about to start headlining a tour in Asia. Then I’m back to the States where I’m working on a lot of new music that you can expect to be coming out very soon.

If you had a perfume, what would it be called?

I would call it Sweet Thing. It’s sweet and it’s good to smell, nothing too dramatic.
