Attention Grey’s Anatomy Fans, A Fan-Favorite Actress is Returning For Season 14

It's official, Dr. Teddy Altman will make a guest appearance on Season 14 of Grey's Anatomy. Although we aren’t too sure how many episodes we should expect to see her in, Deadline reported that Kim Raver‘s return will be a multi-episode arc. The series favorite was a regular on the show during seasons 6 through 8.

Last time we saw Raver’s character she was fired from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital by a fellow doctor and longtime friend Dr. Owen Hunt. After the season 8 finale, creator and writer Shonda Rhimes stated that it was the actress' decision herself to leave the show. “Kim’s series option was up, and she was ready to give Teddy Altman a much-needed vacation,” Rhimes said. “It’s been a pleasure working with someone as talented and funny and kind as Kim; everyone is going to miss her terribly. I like to imagine that Teddy is still out there in the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe, running Army Medical Command and building a new life.”

And it seems this is exactly what Dr. Teddy Altman has been doing. During the end of season 13, it was Teddy who helped to identify Owen’s sister Megan, who was thought to have died overseas but rather coincidentally ended up at Teddy’s hospital. Dr. Altman then assured Dr. Amelia Shepard that Megan would be transferred to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. We can only assume that Teddy may accompany Megan and bring her storyline back to Grey Sloan.

The popular series is known for tragic deaths and love stories that send viewers on an emotional rollercoaster, but it is also no stranger to bringing back characters from previous seasons. Other characters that have made a return include Patrick Dempsey’s character, the beloved McDreamy Dr. Derek Shepard and Tessa Ferrer’s character, Leah Murphy.

We're not sure what's in store for Teddy next season, but knowing Shonda — it's bound to be intense. Season 14 of Grey’s Anatomy will air this upcoming fall.
