Jon Gosselin Says Being On Reality TV Ruined His Children, So Much So That Saying This On National TV Can’t Do Any More Damage
Former Ed Hardy model Jon Gosselin continues to compete with Michael Lohan for the “Worst Father, Like Ever” award. And for the first time in Bad Dad History, he may finally be pulling ahead. In an interview with Oprah last night, he said that being on a reality TV show ruined his children. In every single which way that a child can be ruined.
“Yes, they have trust funds, and they’re taken care of educationally. Great,” he said. “But developmentally, they have problems with their peers, and they have problems with talking to other people.”In fact, he thinks growing up on television has negatively affected any moral compass his kids should or might have.“They have problems with wants and needs and manners and morals and what’s right and what’s wrong,” he said. ”I think more so than someone who grows up off TV.”
While this all sounds very plausible for children who grew up on a television show, it also sorta maybe sounds like something that a father should keep to himself. Or at least keep from the public. Because even if his kids don't currently have computer access, their classmates do. And hearing that their father said this about them won't improve the situation. In fact, every single one of the child psychologists that I just interviewed in my head agreed that this will only make the situation worse. Because believe it or not, children don't particularly like it when their father tells the world that they're extremely wealthy, friendless sociopaths.
Also on a slightly related note, why is Oprah interviewing Jon Gosselin? Are things really so bad at OWN that it's come to this? If so, wow, insert a “how the mighty have fallen” quote here.
