Seeing The Cast Of Game Of Thrones In Modern Clothes Makes My Brain Hurt

By  |

Maisie Williams, aka Arya Stark at the Game of Thrones season three premiere partyI have a case of what I'm gonna call the Downton Abbeys, because I'm having a really hard time adjusting to seeing the Game Of Thrones cast members in fancy modern clothes. They were out on the red carpet in full force last night for the season three premiere party, and my poor dear brain just can't quite get over it.These people are supposed to be in heavy layers of furs, with snowflakes blowing into their hoods. Winter is coming, after all, as anyone who's even picked up one of the books can and will tell you. They all occupy very specific areas in my consciousness, and those areas overlap zero percent with the pop culture and red carpet areas, so I'm struggling right now.

Probably the hardest to adapt to are the women, because it seems like so many of them have different natural hair colors than their characters. I knew that Emilia Clarke wasn't a natural blond, mostly because that wig for Danaerys Targaryen is so blatantly obvious, but Lena Headley really surprised me by having dark hair in real life even though Cersei Lannister is so quintessentially blond. And seeing Arya Stark in a dress! Egads! She's supposed to be scurrying around like an androgynous little rodent, getting into trouble and being my favorite character, not getting dressed up for a silly old party.

But perhaps your minds are more full of wisdom than mine, and more accepting of new information, and these pictures won't be so jarring for you. With that in mind, I've made a gallery of some of my favorites, for your perusal.
