Fifty Shades Of Grey Cast Revealed, In That There Apparently Won’t Be One

E.L. James signing copies of her book in London September 2012I don't know if you guys have heard, but they're trying this edgy new thing now where they make movies with absolutely nobody in them at all. At least, that's what I assume they're doing for Fifty Shades Of Grey, because they just refuse to get this cast nailed down. Even though the film has been given a release date of August 1st, 2014, either no one has signed on to the project, or it's veiled in more secrecy than baby North West's face. Regardless, I'm almost positive that no filming has yet taken place, which seems like it should maybe be a priority, with a little over twelve months to go until humans expect to absorb it through their eyeholes.

Originally the rumor was that the cast would be revealed at Comic Con, but the book's author E.L. James shot that down a little over a month ago, and there's been nary a peep about it from San Diego. There are still names being thrown around like crazy, though. It seems like Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer are the names I've heard the most to play Christian Grey, with Alexis Bledel taking the same honor for the role of Anastasia Steele. But the pool is by no means closed, because Dominic Cooper's name also recently entered the fray, some people are speculating it'll be rumored real-life couple Alexander Skarsgard and Ellen Page, and let's not forget that Stephen Amell revealed all the way back in March that he was auditioning for the project. (He also said this about it, though, "That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. A long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn't call it long, but I wouldn't call it close." So who knows. Also way to be super specific about the time frame, man. That answers a lot of questions.)

And now, as if things weren't confusing enough, there's speculation about the casting of one of the book's secondary characters as well — Christian's brother Elliot Grey. He's more laid back than the tightly-wound BDSM machine that is Christian Grey, and the part is reportedly being eyed by Kellan Lutz, of Twilight fame, and Liam Hemsworth, of gorgeous Australian fame. If you believe everything you read (and I do), Liam is apparently up for the role in conjunction with his brother Chris Hemsworth, who would play the Christian to Liam's Elliot.

Oh. Oh my. I've been talking a big game about this movie not being anything I'd be interested in, but a Hemsworth horse is a horse of a different color. Whatever the sexiest color is. Roan, maybe? I don't know. Cast this movie so I can figure out if I care about it or not. And also so that you, y'know, actually have a movie to release next August. Just looking out.
