Farrah Abraham Checked Herself Into Rehab Because ‘Hey, Look At Me!’

Farrah Abraham in sequined blue bikini June 2013I wish I could go back in time to three months ago when I didn't know Farrah Abraham‘s name yet. Back to a simpler age when she was just one of the faces in the Teen Mom crowd, before I saw her having abrupt anal with James Deen and then listened to her pretend that it was a leaked sex tape that she never intended to be released and not a full-blown (pun intended) porn. Because when you film a casual sex tape that's only intended for your own use, you always hire the most famous male porn star in the game, right? And you name it something catchy like ‘Backdoor Teen Mom' and you make a million dollars on it? Just clarifying.

But the window of opportunity for me not to know who Farrah is has closed, sadly, and taken my dreams of blissful ignorance with it. Now I have to resign myself to knowing pretty much every move this girl makes, including the fact that she just checked herself into a rehab facility for alcohol abuse. This is all stemming from her DUI back in March, after which she was ordered to take an alcohol education class and observe a six-month probation. She recently passed the course, but elected to begin a ten-day outpatient program regardless, because:

“At this time in my life, I need to stay focused on the positive to get through all of the negative that a DUI has caused in my life. I’m twenty-two and I want to make better choices and ensure I can recognize when I am putting myself in a bad situation next time.”

Okay, cool. As much as I wish I had a better attitude about Farrah's actions, and I could praise her for making a good preemptive decision, I can't help second-guessing her motives. She's been so cold and calculating so far, and was reportedly so non-cooperative in her alcohol education class that the instructor complained Farrah “had difficulty making eye contact, was standoffish and was sarcastic when answering the questions asked of her. That doesn't sound like someone super inclined to make a positive, healthy choice for themselves, so I worry this might be a ploy for attention.

And it kind of makes sense, if you base your life on what you read on the internet. Just look at Lindsay Lohan — she was pretty much out of the media until she went back to rehab this year. And Amanda Bynes! People are only writing the two of them up because they seem to be spiraling out of control, so maybe Farrah thinks that if she imitates that, she'll get the same kind of treatment.

I certainly don't wish Farrah any ill-will, but it is unfortunately difficult for me to take her seriously. I hope she gets the help she needs in rehab, and that she's able to make good choices in the future. That's about all I've got as far as words of encouragement.
