7 Reasons You Should Watch Fargo This Season
Hey, you over there. Yes, you. What are you doing tonight? Do you have plans? Well, cancel them right now, because you’re going to stay home and watch the season two premiere of Fargo instead. That’s an order. It airs at 10 PM on FX, and you better be watching. I’ll know if you’re not. I SEE ALL.
Okay, so I’m obviously (only kind of) joking, but I’m serious when I tell you that you need to give this series a try. Just to catch you up, it’s the show that was inspired by the 1996 Coen Brothers movie of the same name but is definitely not a remake. The first season won a buttload of awards which were totally deserved because it was amazing.
You should definitely catch up on the first season if you have the time, but the good news is you can watch the second season without having seen the first, since it’s a prequel with a new story. Here are some reasons you should already be obsessed with this show.
1. The accents
Aw heck, you betcha Minnesotan accents are fun to listen to, especially juxtaposed against bloody murder.
2. The snow
I don’t know about you, but where I am right now I’m desperate for colder weather. If you’re like me, you’ll feel cooler just watching this show.
3. The humor
It’s dark and quirky humor at its finest. The balance between intense violence and silly banter is pitch-perfect. Last season’s villain Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) managed to make me laugh and give me nightmares at the same time.
4. The cast
It might seem hard to beat last year’s crew (Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, Bob Odenkirk, Kate Walsh and Key and Peele, to name a few), but this year’s cast is pretty great too. There’s Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Jean Smart, Ted Danson, Nick Offerman, and “The Mother” herself, Cristin Milioti.
5. The fashion
This season takes place in the 1970s, with the clothes to go with it. Kirsten Dunst’s outfits look particularly fabulous.
6. The style
7. Little Molly!
This one is probably only exciting to you if you watched season one and fell in love with Deputy Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) like I did. This season focuses on her policeman father (Patrick Wilson) when Molly was a little girl. We already got a glimpse of her in the trailer, and to be honest it’s most of the reason I’m excited to watch. Well, that and all the other things I just mentioned.
