Emma Watson Says She Took Two Years Off From Acting, And I’m Like ‘Oh, Where Was I?’
Why Emma Watson, you sly slippery secret-keeper! I thought you were at my slumber party the whole time, but in fact you slipped out as soon as everyone went to sleep and sneaked back in before anybody woke up. I'm referring, of course, to the fact that Emma recently gave an interview in which she revealed that she took two years off from acting, but more importantly, to the fact that I didn't even notice. In a recent interview with promoting her movie The Bling Ring, Emma said:
“I basically took two years out and stepped as far away from it as I could – I mean the HP films were still coming out but I took time to really try and figure out who I was and what I wanted to do. I even considered not being an actress.”
Why you sneaky mom! I had no idea you dipped out like that! Quite the Irish goodbye, if you ask me! And you thought about coming back? That's serious! Where was I? Distracted by your adorable pixie cut? Dazzled by the constant flow of Harry Potter movies? I had no idea you were even gone! I'm a monster! I feel like I was an amateur astronomer gazing up at the sky, confident that the glowing orb in my telescope was still happily burning away in the cosmos…only to find that that star took like a full two light years off to go think about life or get some snacks or something, and I didn't even notice because its light was uninterrupted. Well thank god it came back, jeepers! I got pretty attached to that star! Also SCIENCE TALK GUYS, WHAT UP?!?!
But even though we thought Emma was just okay in This Is The End, and we were less than dazzled by her performance in The Bling Ring, we're still glad that Emma decided to come back and give us more movies, please and thank you. That's just how infatuated I am with Emma herself and with the character of Hermione Granger. As far as I'm concerned, we can all merrily warm our hands at the glorious supernova that was Harry Potter for the rest of our born days. I'd be fine with that.
