You know that thing of when you wake up in the morning, thinking you're about to enter a wonderful new day, and then some guy in a Nacho Libre costume runs into your room and just punches you square in the face? Well, that's how it felt this morning when I found out that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, aka the cutest celebrity couple in the whole entire world, were reportedly on a break. DAMN YOU, NACHO LIBRE MAN.

Rumors of trouble between the two have been swirling ever since Emma brought her gum-wielding brother to the Golden Globes instead of Andrew. Some (ME) thought it was strange, but perhaps just an isolated incident—they are, after all, both working actors with very important things to do. However, as their appearances together grew fewer in number, I started to worry, and now it looks as though my fears have been confirmed. They're a famously private couple, so nothing has officially been confirmed by either of them, but since we're all smart people, I think we can see what's going on here. According to my favorite person ever, Mr. Anonymous Source,

“Stone and Garfield remain very friendly and on good terms, so the break appears to be connected to actual physical distance, the two having to spend a lot of time apart because of work. They aren't calling it a ‘break,' per se, but it's obvious that they just haven't been able to be together much lately.”

Me, right now:

Okay, now that I've ugly-cried, I think I can be okay with this. What with Emma's career seriously skyrocketing after her Oscar nomination for Birdmanand Andrew's general busy-ness maintaining his beard, it's not really a surprise that they might not have as much time for each other or a relationship in general as they did before. If they really are on a break, it's better that they do it now and do it mutually rather than continue in a relationship that would just fall apart.

Who knows, maybe one day they'll get back together, get married, and start having fights like this:

A girl can dream, right?
