Ellen DeGeneres Bethenny Frankel Interview

On the slight chance that you're not completely up to date on the daytime talk show drama that's currently going down, lemme catch you up. Ellen DeGeneres helped Bethenny Frankel launch her own daytime talk show this year for reasons that are currently unknown. Sure there are rumors out there that Bethenny kidnapped Porta de Rossi and held her hostage until Ellen agreed to put her name on the show, but those are just rumors that I made up. So I'm honestly not sure how trustworthy they really are.

But back to the big story! Bethenny's show isn't doing well, probably because she's completely unlikeable and not at all fun to watch on TV. Rumors started last week that Bethenny was mad at Ellen for not helping her out more and that Ellen was distancing herself from the trainwreck that was Bethenny's show. So to stop those rumors, Ellen went on Bethenny's show today via satellite and gave one of the most uncomfortable interviews I've ever seen. While you don't see a gun to her head in the interview, it's most certainly there somewhere. It's either that or there's a photo of Sophia Grace and Rosie tied up, hanging above the camera, just reminding Ellen what's at stake.

Even though Ellen says wonderful things about Bethenny throughout the interview, it never once sounds believable. There are even a few points where Ellen seems to be sending us not-so-hidden messages that she's not on board with what she's saying

Bethenny: I was just telling my audience how much I love you and how amazing you've been to me and a lot of people like to make a lot of comments in the press about different relationships whether it's someone gives someone a show and it's just a business relationship and I try to explain to people that you and I are really friends. We actually go to dinner, I hang out with you and Portia, I've been to your house. I genuinely love you and look up to you and I call you when things are rough or when I need advice and that's just the nature of this relationship.
Ellen: It is. I mean you have not invited me to your house but I've invited you to mine so that has happened but someday maybe, I don't know.

And before you're like, “she's kidding around, you idiot,” listen to what she sounds like when she says it. I don't think Ellen's kidding around here. Which is weird for her in general, but extra weird due to the fact that she's supposed to convincing people that she loves Bethenny. While I don't know why Ellen agreed to this interview, I'm pretty sure she didn't think up the idea on her own. In fact, I'm pretty sure that this interview is the result of a lot of “you need to save this show because we're losing a lot of money on it” discussions with suit-wearing men. Watch the interview for yourself and see what I'm talking about. Also simultaneously see just how much you can physically cringe while watching a four-minute clip on the interweb.
