Well This Is Disturbing: Vintage Photos Of Dina Lohan With A Black Eye

Dina Lohan black eye 3  Well this is just sad. In the last couple days, Dina Lohan has accused her ex-husband and Lindsay Lohan's father Michael Lohan of domestic violence and rape back in the 1980s. And now we have the pictures. Great. I don't even know where to start with this. There's so much that's wrong with it, and it's none of my business, but they're releasing details to the media, so I figure it's officially fair game. Hold onto something. LOHAN FAMILY — go somewhere and talk to each other. That's all. Go to a bunker somewhere and talk and talk and talk until you have nothing left to hash out. I don't care if you can't forgive each other, because it sounds like a massive amount of shit has gone down in that family of yours over the years, but you have to find a better way of communicating with each other than through front-page exposes and magazine interviews. I'm tired of you guys sensationalizing your family tragedies.

Dina Lohan black eye 2Domestic abuse is a huge thing. Rape is a huge thing. But there's a reason that when a victim makes an accusation of rape, his or her name isn't released to the media; it's to protect that person's privacy. No one is expecting anyone to ‘be over' events of that magnitude just because they happened almost thirty years ago, but this is no one's business but the family's and the law. Who does it possibly benefit to release this information to the media? Does it benefit Lindsay or Cody or Aliana or Michael Jr.? Is it really good for them to see their parents fighting publicly about intensely personal details of their family life? Is that why Lindsay is so healthy and well-adjusted and totally not prone to overdramatics herself? Awesome, great. So against my better fucking judgement, here are the things that the Lohans are currently saying about each other in the media.

Dina decided to come forward after Lindsay found the pictures with her mom's black eye, demanded an explanation, and then gave Dina her blessing to go public with the confession. Not to the courts. Not to the police. Not to Michael himself, in some kind of therapy session. TO THE MEDIA. HOW HELPFUL. According to Dina, she and Michael were out for a nice dinner at a restaurant in Cold Spring Harbor, and Michael had been abusing alcohol and cocaine throughout the evening:

“When we left he was drunk-driving and suddenly he started screaming, ‘Get the f— out of the car!’”

At which point she alleges that Michael punched her in the right cheek, bruising her below her eye. Dina called her parents, who brought her to a Long Island hospital. This story is supported by hospital records from the night of December 4th, 1986, when Dina was indeed treated for ‘blunt trauma' to the face. However, Michael Lohan has a different explanation for what took place, saying:

“I came in at 2 o’clock in the morning after being out with some friends. I walked in and she hit me with an ice tray. With the back of my hand I slapped her in the face. Yes, it did happen in 1986. Were there any charges? No, not at all. I had a big black and blue on my neck from her.”

Dina did not press charges at the time because Michael was already set to serve a jail sentence for his securities fraud convictions, but she adds to the allegations by accusing her cocaine addicted ex-husband of raping her on February 14th, 1990 in the same house where their children were sleeping:

“He was out of jail and on another coke-fueled night. [They] were sleeping, and I just knew I had to stay quiet — I don’t want to wake them.”

Again, Nassau County Hospital medical records support Dina’s claims, as she did go to the emergency room to report a rape that night, at her parents' insistence. A rape kit was conducted and evidence collected, and an abused women's coalition even contacted Dina, but once again she did not press charges, as her husband was bound for additional jail time for more charges stemming from insider trading. According to Michael, however, the sex was consensual, and he has these charming words to say about it:

“How can you rape a person when they’re on top of you?”

He says that he and Dina were separated but had consensual sex, and it was only after Dina realized that he was dating another woman that she decided the encounter had been rape.

“I went over to her parents’ house and made love to her. When I left and she called me, she found out I was with [the girlfriend] and called police. Then she called me the next day, crying. I said, ‘Let’s work this out.’ And I got back with Dina. There were no charges.”

He's right about the fact that there were no charges, but that doesn't necessarily mean nothing happened. It could mean that Dina was too scared to go to the police, that she was ashamed, or that she wanted to protect her kids from the fray. It could also mean that it didn't happen the way either parent said it did. One thing is for certain — she doesn't have any compunctions about getting her children involved at this stage of the game, even to their detriment.

“I will tell my story … about abuse and how I've survived it and how my children have survived it. It shed some light on my children's behavior, having to witness it. Lindsay saw her dad abuse me — that’s why she’s so screwed up…She saw a lot of crazy stuff. I want the world to know the root of her problems…”

Oh good. At least the way you raised your family still isn't your fault. Thank god. As long as no one's taking responsibility for anything, then I can continue to recognize these misfits as Lohans. You all make me sick, you really do.
