This Is The Story Of How Demi Lovato Almost Touched Kate Middleton’s Baby Bump

DEMI NO!

Earlier this month Demi Lovato attended at the Royal Variety Performance and got to meet Kate Middleton. Pretty cool, right? Well, it might not have been if Demi had touched Kate's baby bump, as English comedian Jack Whitehall feared she would.

In an upcoming appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Jack reveals that he chatted with Demi at the event, and he may have mistakenly encouraged her to do something she wasn't supposed to do:

“She was very nice, very sweet, but American and didn't necessarily buy into my sense of humor,” Jack told the host. “Everyone is very nervous when the royal family is coming around and she asked me what the protocol was with the royal bump, ‘Can we talk about the baby and stuff?,' and as a joke I said ‘The Duchess of Cambridge I think would be offended if you didn't have a little feel' as a joke.”

Jonathan says Demi she took it “at face value,” and Jack feared that Demi actually would “have a little feel”:

“I suddenly realize that we've got a situation here where either I need to step in and tell her that it was a joke and look like an idiot or potentially Demi Lovato from Frozen is about to get taken out by a police marksmen, so I told her.”

I want to give Demi the benefit of the doubt and believe she's not actually that much of a gullible goose, or that she would at least ask Kate's permission before reaching out and stroking/grabbing/poking, etc. But let's just be thankful that didn't happen.

I'd also like to point out that Jack's only reference for Demi Lovato is the movie Frozen, which she didn't even star in but merely recorded a song for. So if Jack's going to generalize all Americans as not understanding sarcasm, I'm going to go ahead and generalize all Brits as thinking Demi Lovato was Elsa. Mmkay?
