Good news for anyone who still secretly wishes Ryan Phillipe was waiting for them at the top of every escalator they ride (*raises hand*), Cruel Intentions is making a comeback. Here's the video for “Bittersweet Symphony” to set the mood. NBC has ordered the pilot for the TV revival which centers around Ryan's character Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon)'s son Bash Casey, 15 years after the original movie. The plot, as described by The Hollywood Reporter, is:

The drama follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the film) as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, son of her brother, the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.

Even though I'm guessing Reese Witherspoon wouldn't touch this project with a 10 foot pole, some of the original crew from the movie will be back like the writer and director Roger Kumble. He will produce the show with help from Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross who put on the cast-approved “The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Cruel Intentions” last year.

It's been awhile since we've had a show about privileged high schoolers in Manhattan (xoxo Gossip Girl), so maybe this one will be able to fill the Blair Waldolf-size hole in our heart. Will Bash Casey be more of a Chuck Bass or Nate Archibald? Only time will tell.
