Christina Hendricks On Her Body

By  |

New York MagazineIn its cover story this week, New York magazine declares that Christina Hendricks “finds talk of her body boring.” So, naturally, they wrote an entire article about it.

Gorgeous photos aside (and really, how hard is it to take gorgeous photos of a gorgeous woman?), it was interesting to learn that Christina, like a lot of the rest of us, was ignorant of the fact that showbiz people consider her “bigger” than the Hollywood norm (i.e. fat, according to the New York Times). “It might sound silly, but I didn’t realize I was so different,” she said. “I was just oblivious. Sometimes I would go on an audition and someone would say something like, Girl, you’re refreshing! That was it.”

So much scrutiny over your shape can understandably make even the most confident woman question her body image, Christina being no exception. “It kind of hurt my feelings at first,” she said. “Any time someone talks about your figure constantly, you get nervous, you get really self-conscious. I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body!”

Now that she’s gotten this interview out of the way, hopefully we can all start talking about how she’s been criminally overlooked during awards season instead of commenting on her hourglass figure.
