Christina Aguilera And Cee Lo Will Return To Their Rightful Thrones On The Voice
All ye lovers of strange behavior and stranger wardrobe selections rejoice, for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will be returning to their rightful thrones as judges for the upcoming fifth season of The Voice. Hark! I can almost hear the wacky hats and the long-haired cats sighing in relief from here, because they've had an entire season off the air.
As you may recall, Christina and Cee Lo were original judges on the show, but they both took a season off and were replaced by Shakira and Usher, respectively, presumably because the show had to make some budget cuts and it's a known fact that you only have to pay one-named people half of what you pay two-named people. It's called fiscal responsibility, people. But anyway, they're both out, meaning we'll be reveling in pantslessness (Xtina) and indoor sunglass-wearing (Cee Lo) come September 23rd. Here's what Christina has to say for herself after subjecting us to a whole season of covered legs:
“I needed a moment to step away. Thank God for Shakira. She did a beautiful job.”
Did you guys catch that reference to the Christina Aguilera discography, there? Shakira was beautiful, in every single way. Words couldn't bring her down. But concern for her new infant son and his disdain for flying apparently could, because that's why she's leaving. Who knows why Usher is leaving — maybe just because Cee Lo wants to come back — but here's Cee Lo talking about watching Usher fill his shoes:
“It was awkward and intriguing at the same time. It was a bit of an out-of-body experience.”
And that's coming from a guy who's worn feathers and spikes on the same outfit, so you know he knows what he's talking about in regards to out-of-body experiences.
Anyway. No matter why they left, we're finally getting them back, and I couldn't be happier about it. My television is set to get about 100% more bonkers, and this is the moment we've all been waiting for. Oh and also the talent and stuff. I shouldn't forget that, I guess.
