Remember back in the day, when we believed that all celebrity marriages ended amicably, everyone in the entertainment industry was friends with everyone else, and there was never any trouble in paradise? Well that was before Twitter.

It was a simpler time, when there was no way of knowing what a specific famous person was thinking or feeling unless they gave an interview about it, by which time they'd probably calmed down or been coached on what to say, and give a perfectly normal soundbyte about it. Not anymore.

Now we have Twitter, which means any time a famous person is feeling some type of way, they can get right on the internet, ill-advisedly or not, and dash off 140 characters telling us about it. They usually delete it when they wake up in the morning and realize not everyone is as charmed by their racism/sexism/ignorance/etc. as they themselves were, but that's what screenshots were invented for.

So without further ado, a list of ten of the most shocking celebrity Twitter meltdowns that we never saw coming.

1. Jason Biggs

The newest addition to this exclusive group, Jason got in trouble with followers and celebrities alike for a series of insulting tweets about the women on this season of The Bachelor, culminating with ‘I bet that girl who has 9 special needs family members lets them play with her big titties every now and then cuz what else right?' Wow.

2. Alec Baldwin

Ah, so many to choose from. But probably my favorite, for it's pure inappropriateness, is the one where Alec went after that reporter for suggesting that his wife Hilaria was tweeting during James Gandolfini‘s funeral.

“I’m gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I’m gonna fuck…you…up. If put my foot up your fucking ass, George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much. George Stark, you lying little bitch. I am gonna f%#@ you up.”

Oh great. Well I'm certainly glad that didn't turn homophobic.

3. Chris Brown

Chris is another despicable human with a long history of using Twitter to make me think less of him, but even I was surprised by how low he stooped when he posted the real license plate of a woman with whom he was involved in a hit-and-run. When he supposedly did both the hitting and the running. And she did that part where she got bullied via the internet:

4. Charlie Sheen

I mean, this one is now and will always be a classic. You got tiger blood, you got bragging about crack, and you have the inventor of the hashtag #winning. He's the king.

5. Amanda Bynes

Thankfully she was able to get treatment, but for a while there while her problems were being ignored, Amanda's behavior was escalating on a daily basis, as she called out people for being ugly, posted worrying videos, and engaged anyone who would respond in Twitter feuds.
