17 Celebrities Who Tragically Had Miscarriages
It seems as a society we are quick to announce a new pregnancy and the birth of a new baby. While many also don't shy away from celebrating the life of a loved one after they pass on, people often keep miscarriages as a secret — partially because there tends to be a feeling of shame within the person who lost the baby.
According to the American Pregnancy Association, statistics show that miscarriages, or pregnancies that end on their own within the first 20 weeks of gestation, accounts for anywhere from 10-25% of clinically recognized pregnancies. Miscarriage and pregnancy loss does not discriminate and women of all races and cultures experience it, even celebrities. While it's incredibly difficult to do, these 17 celebrities have been open about their tragic losses.
1. Celine Dion
Over the years, Celine Dion has been incredibly honest about her fertility struggles that lasted six long years with her late husband, Rene Angelil. She had to go through multiple rounds of IVF to conceive her children, even suffering a miscarriage between rounds as well. She spoke about this on Oprah saying, “It’s life, you know? A lot of people go through this. We tried four times to have a child. We’re still trying. We’re on the fifth try, and I’ll tell you, if five is my lucky number, this fifth try has got to come in.” She did ultimately have twins after the heartbreak.
