7 Celebrities Who Are Free This Weekend Now That The NYC Marathon Has Been Canceled

By  |

As you may have heard, there was a hurricane in New York this week. Her name was Sandy and she seems pretty dead-set on disrupting as much stuff as possible, including but not limited to subways, electricity, running water, personal possessions, and human life. But luckily, she wasn't going to be able to disrupt the New York City marathon. It hasn't been canceled in forty years, and I don't see why we shouldn't funnel our resources away from the people who need them most and give them to tourists who want to run 26.2 miles for fun! Oh wait! I do see why we should do that, and the mayor's office finally realized it, too, and canceled the marathon, which was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow morning, November 4th.

There are people on both sides of this decision, and I definitely see the reasons for not canceling it — most importantly, revenue for the struggling city — but I think canceling it was the correct choice, and one that people can stand behind. One thing it does do, also, is free up about 50,000 people who no longer have weekend plans. Those people are now available for debris clean-up, supply distribution, and volunteer hours, or they can also sit around and brood if they want.

There's a small group of people, however, who will be able to brood more attractively than the rest, and these are the celebrities who were planning on running tomorrow. They come from all walks of life, but mostly the famous one, so give them a call tomorrow. I promise they don't have any plans.
