Cameron Diaz Just Ended An Interview Because The Dude Insulted Drew Barrymore

Cameron Diaz making unhappy faces GIFEven if you know absolutely nothing else about Cameron Diaz, try to remember that she's best friends with Drew Barrymore, okay? That way she won't abruptly cut off an interview with you a few minutes in after you insult her BFF.

Sadly, this advice is too little too late for some dummy from KISS 106.5's Kyle and Jackie O show — Kyle himself, in fact! — who seemed to think he could trick Cameron into talking about her personal life with nothing but a clunky segue. First he started in about how her movie daughter in Sex Tape reminded him of a young Drew in E.T., a comparison that Cameron loved:

“Aw, yeah! She does, now that you mention it. And she's as bright and lively as Drew is, as well. She's a sweet little girl.”

But then he took it off the rails for absolutely no reason, saying:

“Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine.”

Well hello Kyle Sandilands, look at you! Not only are you needlessly bringing up a really difficult time for Cameron's best friend, but you're saying it was ‘a great thing to watch' from the outside. HOW SHOCKING that Cameron wasn't totally down to go on that memory adventure with you and prefered to stay in the present and stand up for her friend.

“I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Congratulations.”

But he doesn't even stop there! Instead of apologizing or backtracking or really anything, Kyle pushes it further, bringing up the fact that Cameron is dating his friend Benji Madden, about whom she doesn't, or at least hasn't spoken publicly. It was just such a douche move, and so unnecessary, because the interview had been really fun and light with Cameron and her costar Jason Segel up until then.

But to her credit, Cameron didn't rise to the bait and give the guy what he wanted — a reaction. She just went quiet for a little bit while Jason answered a question or two, and then got back on the line to abruptly (but very politely!) end the call.

“We're having to go now. Sorry, they're wrapping us up.”

Good for you girl, honestly. And good for the radio co-host, Jackie, who berated Kyle on air for ruining the interview.

What an idiot.
