The Jenners Separate The Same Week That KUWTK Ratings Fall, What’s The Opposite Of A Coincidence?
When I received the opposite-of-devastating news last night that Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner had officially separated, I didn't think too much of it. We've heard rumors all summer long that the two split up a long time ago and were just faking it for the cameras. Then I started reading about how the two were still committed to doing Keeping Up With the Kardashians this morning and the conspiracy wheels started turning and churning and burning and doing all the things that conspiracy wheels do.
You see, earlier this week, I read that their reality show ratings hit an all-time low. In fact it hit such an all-time low, that people started throwing around the C word. No not that C word. Cancellation! Obviously I did a little jig upon hearing this news. As one of the people who are dumbstruck by the fact that this show is in its EIGHTH season, I'm thrilled to hear that their fans are finally starting to come around.
Considering that they need a ratings boost to stay on the air and considering that they've been separated for a year now, this timing seems all too suspect. Especially since it guarantees that it will bring viewers back to see how the drama goes down on the show. While I put NOTHING past this family when it comes to making money, this one does seem like a low blow to their two teenaged daughters. Kendall and Kylie's lives are screwed up enough as it is due to their family's choices — do they really need their real parents using their real separation for ratings? I think not.
Then again, what do I know? I haven't even released my first sex tape yet.
