The last two weeks have been pretty crazy -- we've been traveling down through middle America to Denver and Salt Lake city, traverse back to Seattle, and then down the coast to San Francisco to play at a musical festival called Outside Lands with the likes of the Reverend Al Green, Pheonix and the Kings of Leon.
Outside Lands was lots of fun. We got to hang out with Phoenix for the first time and meet Leon, the Kings' father. He hung out with us backstage while we watched the Reverend tear up the stage. One of his great stage antics is to toss long-stemmed red roses to all his adoring fans. It was pretty cool to watch.
One of the highlights of the traveling was having a day off in Jonny's wife's hometown, Moscow, Idaho. While we were there, we went out to the family home and had a BBQ of Elk steak and other game meats, followed by a small arms firing session. Joseph was the dead eye on the targets managing to take out two cans with one bullet -- it must be all the time he has spent playing first person shooter games in his bunk on the long drives between shows! It was pretty awesome.
From Moscow we headed to Seattle, where we played this intimate acoustic session on the roof of a building in the middle of town. The view was spectacular, however the sound was muffled by the sound of small sea planes flying overhead. From there it was a short drive to Portland, then onto San Fran.
We arrived back in London last week for a short break before jumping back onto the bus for V Festival. We got the chance to hang with our friends and loved ones and celebrate our last UK shows for the year. We saw this great new band called HURTZ perform who are single handedly bringing back the great '80s power ballad. Swedish Pocket Rocket Robyn was also there, tearing up the dance tent before Groove Armada took the stage.
Now we are in the studio working on some new material and recording demos before we go on a holiday. We'll be back with another blog soon about our prep for our Fall tour, but in the meantime, drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter. We love to hear from all the fans.
Until next time,
