OMG, y'all! We went to Britney Spears' concert at Nassau Coliseum last night, and let us tell you, it was indeed a circus! Ms. Spears was the ringleader of a whirlwind show in which she gets sawed in half, plays "Whack-a-Mole" with her backup dancers, and changes costumes more times than Paris Hilton changes boyfriends. Craziness!
From "If U Seek Amy" to "Circus," Brit-Brit focused on her newer tracks, but included many her past hits, like a hip-hop-ified version of "Baby, One More Time" to a Bollywood-inspired "Me Against The Music." Fave songs of the night go to either "Everytime," the only song she actually sang, or "Toxic," which had us doing some serious booty-shaking. But most of the time, Britney was just being carried (or wheeled in a cage, at one point) across the stage. She did do a little dancing, but it's mostly in the form of grinding -- not really the extensive dance moves we're used to seeing from her. But hey, it was great to see Britney up there: for someone who's had as rough of a time in the past two years, at least she's trying. Thank goodness for those backup dancers and sideshow acts though. Whew! Amazing. So what if it wasn't a "concert," per se? That would require singing. The show definitely kept us (and we're hoping Madonna, who was in the house!) entertained.
Kicking off the evening were the Pussycat Dolls, who, unlike Brit-Brit, sang and danced their little hearts out. Nicole Scherzinger and crew got the party started for sure, encouraging the audience to sing along during their 30-minute set that neatly fit all of their hits, including "I Hate This Part," "When I Grow Up," their new remix of Slumdog Millionaire's "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)"... and lots of side splits from Kimberly Wyatt. Major props to the Dolls on this one!
Were you at the Uniondale, NY show last night? What did you think? Tell us now!
