Bill Hader Talking About His Marriage Will Warm Your Heart And Your Funnybone

Bill Hader and his wife Maggie Carey at The To Do List premiere July 2013Are you in need of a heart-warming today? Or how about a funny bone warming? Because everyone likes a nice hot funny bone, right? Well in any case, Bill Hader is on hand to help you out with some really adorable advice about how to keep your marriage successful. At a screening for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 on Wednesday, he spoke to People about his own wife Maggie Carey, the writer and director of this year's To Do List, and the best ways to make your marriage work:

“Whatever your wife asks, say yes. Just say yes and your life will be so much easier. If your wife asks you to drive to LAX at 2 a.m. to pick up a piece of luggage, do it!”

Smart man. Although now I'm very curious about what kind of operation Maggie and Bill are running that requires 2am trips to the airport. You guys know you can def just pick up your stuff on the baggage carousel at the end of the flight, right? Just want to make sure you're aware that's an option. I hope I didn't just get a fly in the ointment of your marriage.

But in addition to taking lovely moonlit drives to LAX together, you also need to be aware of how to divvy up responsibilities:

“I’m all about trash — she won’t even deal with trash. I was gone for a week working and I came back and the garbage cans were still on the curb. Maggie wouldn’t even bring them back in. I was like, ‘You can’t just take the empty ones?’’ And her response was, ‘I make lunch, you never make lunch — you never make anything.’ And I said, ‘You know what, that’s a fair tradeoff!’ I accept.”

I was nervous that was gonna turn into a gripey post about a nagging wife at the beginning, there, but this is Bill Hader we're talking about, so I needn't have worried. Because yeah! That's a great trade-off! And it's great that they can both see that and that they don't need to be on each other trying to change it to make the other person more like themselves. Love that.

And just for one extra jolt to your happy-heart muscles, here's Bill talking about his daughters Hannah, who will be four in October, and Harper, who's fourteen months old:

“They’re becoming so funny. My wife is really funny and it’s cool to see; the bits they play with each other and the silliness about them.”

I'm easy to please, but I just love a guy who likes funny girls and thinks his wife lady is hilarious. That's all it takes to get me warm and fuzzled.
