Even Austin Mahone Admits He’s Not A Good Performer, So How Is This Kid Famous?

Austin Mahone shrugging in banga! banga! GIFI've never totally understood why Austin Mahone was famous, but now that I'm finding out not even he thinks he's a good performer, I'm having trouble figuring out what the draw on this kid is.

All I've known about him up until this point is that he's a carbon copy of Justin Bieber, from getting famous on the internet, to posting shirtless selfies, to growing up with a single mom, to wearing onesies, to having a first name that ends in -ustin, there doesn't seem to be a single thing that separates these two. Except…maybe talent. At least according to Austin himself, who told the Associated Press:

“I may not be the best dancer or the best performer right now, but I’m always getting better. Next year I’ll be even better than I am now. And the year after that, I’ll just keep getting better.”

Um, yes, that is called getting older. Except you're making money off of performing now, so you're essentially telling us that we'd be wasting our money to pay you now. Might as well pay you later when you're actually decent. And as if that comment weren't offensive enough, Austin also wants us to stop comparing him to Justin Bieber. AS IF THE TWO OF THEM AREN'T TWINS.

“I can kind of see where they’re coming from, but at the same time, it’s kind of obnoxious. They see a young kid who sings and dances and… they’re like, ‘Oh another Justin Bieber.'”

“You don’t know me. You don’t know my music. You’re just making assumptions.”

How about this, Austin — I'll do my job, you do yours. Mine is making assumptions, and yours is getting good enough at dancing and performing to justify charging people to watch it.
