Even Anne Hathaway Cried At Anne Hathaway In Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway Les Miserables Premiere Cried

Anne Hathaway gives an intensely emotional performance as Fantine in Les Miserables that's making audiences everywhere (this writer included) ashamed to let their fellow moviegoers know they have a heart and tear ducts.

And it looks like even Anne Hathaway is moved by Anne Hathaway's performance. Anne says she cried when she saw herself onscreen at the Les Mis premiere. She's claiming it's because it reminds her of what it was like to film those scenes, but I'm betting she's also really impressed by her own performance, which I don't blame her for, because it's that good.

Still, this is what she has to say for herself about the matter:

“I cry, but I think it's because I'm still connected to the experience of making it, the process. For me, when I see it, I actually have to be aware when I'm doing press, because it brings me a lot closer to Fantine.

She's so broken that I actually have to protect myself a little bit. So when I saw it, I did cry, but not because of what I was doing [on screen]. It was because I was back in the process of making it.”

Since that process involved eating dried oatmeal paste and radishes and getting an onscreen makeover to look like her gay brother, it's no surprise that she cried. I'm just hoping she cried and then ate a cheeseburger.

Could this really be a technique to get an Oscar? Has Anne Hathaway invented an “I'm so good I even make myself cry” mind-control technique to ensnare the Academy voters into giving her the statue? That is, if they forgive her for her hosting gig a couple of years ago, which even she admits wasn't the best (although I think James Franco should get most of the blame). Wait a minute… she shares the public's reaction to that as well? I think Anne Hathaway is pioneering a new form of public relations. She should start a school or something.
