Andrew Garfield Loves Ryan Gosling And Hates Robert Pattinson, Has His Hollywood Priorities Straight
We're fascinated by how Andrew Garfield fits in to Hollywood. You figure that if the guy can deliver such a riveting performance as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, he's got to not take himself too seriously. True to form, he's absolutely adorable in interviews. And yet, he's also a rising sex symbol in his own right. But how does he interact with his fellow young Hollywood stars? We were interested to learn that Andrew has made his allegiances very clear.
While Emma Stone told Teen Vogue all about how she gets to mess around with Ryan Gosling on-screen for a second time in The Gangster Squad, Andrew just had to butt in and express his love for the rom-com-star-turned-internet-meme:
“That freaking dreamboat … I think I'm more attracted to Ryan Gosling than any woman could ever be. I think about him so often. I'm not joking!
“I have a proper man crush. Years ago, we did a screen test together, and he was just so inspiring. He reminded me of what I imagined Pacino and De Niro were like back in the day, that kind of truthful, visceral, lived-in acting. I was like, That's what I want to follow.”
High praise indeed! Usually when people gush over Gosling, it's about That Scene from The Notebook. I love it when you hear about these six degrees of separation, like Andrew doing a screen test with Ryan or Channing Tatum vacationing with George Clooney.
However, Andrew seems to be very discerning with which Hollywood guys he likes. Though this is less reputable, a source tells Us Weekly that Andrew is not a fan of sparkly vampire Robert Pattinson:
“The truth is, Andrew can't stand Rob. Andrew hates that they're put in the same category because they're both English and around the same age. They don't enjoy hanging out. Andrew considers himself a ‘serious actor' and sees Rob as the equivalent of a cheesy boy bander because of Twilight.”
Even though it's not like this came from Andrew's mouth, consider that when they appeared at the same wedding three weeks ago they weren't photographed together. Assuming that Andrew at least has some disdain for RPattz, he's going about his social life in Hollywood very smartly: Align yourself with a shy but gorgeous sure thing, and distance yourself from the one-note franchise star. I mean, distance yourself anyway because I still don't think he washes his hair that much.
