Adele Doesn’t Speak To Her Father, Probably Because He Sounds Like Michael Lohan

brits arrivals 26 210212I'm trying to think back to the Michael Lohan illegitimate child fiasco and remember — was it Adele who turned out to be his daughter? Because I'm getting a strong scent of MiLo off these stories about her estranged father.

Mark Evans, Adele's dad, abandoned her and her mom, Penny, when Adele was just three years old, but she maintained a relationship with him by spending holidays with him in Wales until 1999, when he came unhinged at the death of his father, Adele's grandfather. At that point, he fell into a battle with alcoholism and lost touch with his daughter until 2003, when Adele was fifteen. They were still in contact as she released her first record, 19, in 2008, and their relationship remained intact until 2011, when Mark sold a story about Adele to the media. After he did that, Adele completely cut him out, saying:

“I was actually ready to start trying to have a relationship with him. He's fucking blown it. He will never hear from me again. There's consequences other than just getting a bit of fucking money that lasts you half a year. It blows my mind. ‘I love her so much.' Really? Why are you telling me that through a newspaper? If I ever see him I will spit in his face.”

Strong words, yeah, but I can't say that I blame her. When you're famous I feel like your family becomes even more important, to help you feel normal, and if you can't trust them not to sell you out to the media, what's the point? And she's stayed true to her promise. Even though she's been dating Simon Konecki since January 2012 and little baby Angelo James is three months old, Mark hasn't met either of them. In fact, he learned about them the same way that the rest of us did, from the media. Ah, the irony. And here's where he starts serving up the Michael Lohan realness.

“It breaks my heart that Adele is so hell-bent on cutting me off like this. I knew she had met her new fella … but it was a bolt out of the blue when I found out she was expecting. As soon as I found out, I wanted more than ever to get in touch and meet up so I could see how she was with my own eyes and let her know I'm here for her. I'm not interested in her celebrity status or her money, I just want my daughter back and I want to be a proper granddad to the little one. I'm missing out on so many of the joys of being a grandfather.”

Ah yes, the simple pleasures of knowing enough about your daughter that you can profit off selling stories to the media. Karma's a bitch, buddy. And in case that wasn't enough Lohan flavor for you, here's Mark talking about his grandson's name:

“I’d hoped so much that she’d put my late dad’s name, John, in there somewhere, but alas it looks as if it is not going to be.I’m not sure why she’s chosen James, other than a reference to James Bond, and God alone knows where Angelo has come from. It’s very LA, isn’t it? If only she’d called him John. That would have meant so much  to me – and to Dad, God bless him. He’d have been so touched.”

First of all, yes. I'm absolutely positive that she's named her baby after James Bond. That makes total sense, as ‘James' is a very rare name and could not have come from Simon's side of the family at all. And secondly, it sounds like you've definitely learned your lesson, Mark. Adele liked it so much when you gave an interview about her in 2011 that you should definitely do it again in 2013. And she's been so free and open with letting the media into her personal life and details about her baby and whatnot, so why not publicly speculate about his name and criticize her choices. That should go over like gangbusters, you big old Michael Lohan, you.
