Okaaaayyyyyy! So this had to be the most hectic week of my life since my career jumped off. The big week leading up to the release of my debut album, Shontelligence. Full of excitement and thrills, but very little rest. Here's how it went!
11.11.08
House of Blues, Houston
Metro Station, Kevin Rudolf and I did a show together. Everyone rocked it! After the show, I hung out with my DJ Shortman and Kevin and his band. I'm finally starting to make friends with other artists. It's really nice to be able to talk to people who live a similar life to mine.

HP Pavillion, San Jose -- Wild Jam 94.9 with Guest Host Cassie
The biggest show I've done yet. My first arena performance. I was so nervous because I have never performed in such a large and expansive venue. The stage was HUGE! It's not easy working such a large area all the while keeping up the energy. It turned out great and the crowd helped me sing "T-Shirt." I almost cried. I opened the show, followed by Kevin Rudolf who "Let It Rock" and then Ciara, who was full of energy and awesome as she always is. (Congrats to Ciara on winning the Billboard Women in Music Award recently. Well deserved!) Ludacris was great and hilarious, as usual. I think he was a standup comedian in his previous life! E-40 and T.I. tore it up, and the girls of course went nuts over T.I. when he sang his smash "Whatever You Like," also a fave of mine. Akon closed the show performing the smash hit "Dangerous" with my good friend Kardinal Offishal and DESTROYED the place when he gave his very hype performance of his radio and club banger and a favorite of mine, "Right Now," crowd surfing and diving in all his Senegalese splendor! I'm so proud of my label-mate. After a fun meet and greet where I took pics with fans and signed posters I did interviews with the host station Wild 94.9 at the end of the show and then I hung out for a while in Akon's dressing room with him, Kardi and the rest of the guys, where I also did a few more interviews, tags and drops for various websites. Even after the performance, the work is not over.

Club Cosas. Desert Springs/Marriott Resort, Palm Springs -- KRCK-FM
Sick! This place is absolutely incredible! I had such a great time and we were extremely well taken care of by the station and the hotel. Let's just say it was so cool being in the desert. It was like actually being in the middle of the Wild Wild West scenes I used to watch on TV growing up. The Resort blew my mind away! I will never take any job for granted. I won't even say much about it. Instead, take a look at the footage. A movie is worth many words!
11.14.08
Cain Ballroom , Tulsa
Metro Station, Shwayze, Tyga, and Cash Cash were also on this show. This was such a great crowd and I was very excited to perform at the historic Cain Ballroom. My two dancers and my DJ Shortman are the best. We were so tired by then, but we killed it! Unfortunately, we had to run immediately after the performance and we literally ran off the stage into the limo and back to the hotel.
11.15.08
John's Open House Party, Boston
Crazy fun! This is one of the coolest syndicated radio shows in the country, and I really enjoyed talking to the callers and chatting with the listeners online.
11.16.08
Home chillin'. Finally able to get some rest before my big night. I had such a headache all day, and it also sucked that I had just caught a bad cold. I did nothing but literally sleep the entire day! Well, I did have to get up a couple times to do some phoners (phone interviews). Like I said, the work never stops, even on what appears to be an off day.
11.17.08
Mad Tee Party, Room Service, NYC!!!
The launch of my debut album, Shontelligence. The event was presented by Hanes and Vibe. So much thanks to them for supporting me. I spent the entire day in prep. We checked into the London Hotel bright and early. First was glam (hair and makeup), then off to sound check. I rehearsed with my band and met some of the designers who were putting together their really cool displays of designs using various Hanes Apparel pieces and creating fresh new outfits. You would never think they started out as pajamas, regular tank tops and t-shirts and even boxers. Hanes had a really cool t-Shirt kiosk, where my guests could go and design their own shirts on a computer and print them right on the spot! They made me a pink one that said "Hi, I'm Shontelle." There was a fashion show just before I performed in front of a crowd packed wall to wall. Some very special guests including, my family and friends from Barbados, Carson Daly, Shelley Wade from Z100, and Anwar Glover from HBO's The Wire came out to support me, and I was so happy to see them all. I'll be posting some footage and more pics on MySpace and shontellemusic.com soon!
What a great night it was. I did lots of press and talked to everyone. It was a load of hugs and kisses and everyone was full of congratulations and shared in all the excitement with me. I feel very proud that I have been able to finally make it this far and that I get the opportunity to live my dream. I know this is just the very beginning and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds...
