21 Jump Street Wins At The Box Office; Gives Hope To Those Hoping For More ’80s Remakes

This past weekend it was 21 Jump Street that won out over all the other movies at the box office. For those of you who were not born yet, the movie is based on the 1980's series of the same name that starred Johnny Depp. Perhaps you have heard of this Depp character; he's been in a few other things since then.

Whenever a movie version of a television show does well, you can better believe that movie executives in Hollywood start racking their brains as to what other television show could make it as a full-length feature. If we look at the past there are so many brilliant TV shows that could not only inspire a movie, but also rope in an entire new generation of fans. This, of course, leads to double the bucks because you're working the old and new fan angle.

With this in mind, it's actually shocking how many TV shows have just been left in the past or forever doomed to a little place called “Nick@Night” and never get to feel the thrill of superstar, silver screen status. There are six shows from the 1980's, in particular, that I strongly feel would do amazingly well if someone would take a chance and make them into a movie. Yes, that's how I spent my Sunday night — thinking of all the reasons why Mr. Belvedere should be a movie.
