I grew up in a small town called Ludington, Mich. It's kind of near Grand Rapids, so my whole family came out to our show last week. We gave away a ton of free shirts to them. I mean, how can you tell your grandma she can't have a free shirt? You can't.
What was Blake's favorite moment from Metro Station's show in Chicago? Find out!
I think Florida is my favorite state to play shows. I'm definitely not a fan of hot, humid weather, but the crowds in Florida always make it worth it. I remember a show we had on one of our first tours in a club that had no air conditioning during miserable August weather. The room was packed and the crowd sang every word to every song. The electricity kept turning on and off during our set. That show was such a mess, but the crowd made it amazing.
When we pulled into Pensacola on our day off, the weather was cooooold. I had to get out my winter jacket and gloves. Sometimes I get so used to playing shows every day that I don't know what to do with myself on a day off. I got a ton of rest and worked on a new song. I tried to walk around the area but I didn't get very far. It was too cold.

Mason grew up in Rockwall, Texas, which is just outside of Dallas. We had a day off, so he convinced us it'd be a good idea to park the bus near his house. There was supposed to be a mall, theater, and other stuff to keep us busy. But the only thing within walking distance was an Exxon gas station and some BBQ restaurant. That's the last time we let Mason choose where we spend our day off!
It turned out to be a good day for me. I worked on some new music. It can be really hard to write on the road with all the distractions and work we have to do, but it was so relaxed on the bus that I had a really productive day. The stuff I'm writing these days is sounding an awful lot like Depeche Mode.

To anyone who has ever come to any of our shows, thanks for dancing. It's a thrill to see the crowd move when we play. On many of our tours, including this one, we've been the most dance-oriented band. It's just more fun for us to throw a party instead of just a show. And every time we go back to a city, the party gets even bigger.
We've played Vegas several times but I had never ever gambled until this last trip. I spent a whole fifteen dollars on a slot machine and got nothing. Oh well. I always say that if Las Vegas built a city on people losing money then the odds are pretty much against you. I would rather spend my money on other things, like Frisbees and trail mix. Frisbees are fun. Trail mix is tasty.

I remember a conversation I had with a friend of mine in college when I was home for spring break. We were both pursuing careers in music in different ways. She was a classically trained pianist, and I was teaching myself how to make trance music on a computer. She asked me what music I was listening to the time, and I happened to be obsessed with Saves The Day.
There are times when the music you hear connects exactly with what's going on in your life. Saves The Day was the soundtrack to my college experience. I'm not sure if a piano player understood what their music meant to me, but she was nice enough play along. I remember being thrilled that I could sing along to every song. It meant so much to me.
