Blowin' Up

I know I'm waaaayyyy behind with the blog but I'm back! Soooo much has gone down since the last time I checked in with you guys.

Here's what has happened in my life since we last chatted: OBAMA became President (proud to have my song "Battle Cry" on his Yes We Can compilation album). I went to the Confessions of A Shopaholic premiere in NYC (my new single featuring Akon "Stuck With Each Other" is the title track from the movie and is featured both in the movie and on the soundtrack. We wrapped up the New Kids on the Block tour in the UK. I went to my first Grammys...

Welcome to Scotland!

The English countryside is so beautiful. But while it doesn't snow in England too often, it does in Scotland! By the time we crossed the border and saw the "Welcome to Scotland" sign, sleet was pelting down on our Mercedes van. The closer we got to Glasgow, the worse it got. We could only see a few feet in front of us, so we had to drive very carefully, not to mention we passed a huge sign saying: "CAUTION! ROAD LIABLE TO ICING." Oh, that's just great considering we were driving on an incline! The sleet became full-on snow the further we drove and the countryside transformed from green fields into icy, frosted, rolling hills. We could see snow capped slopes appearing in the distance. Breathtaking. I felt kinda sorry for all the sheep we saw out in the cold and snow, though. I know they have thick coats of wool and they are used to it, but I still feel like warm-blooded animals must get uncomfortable in the freezing temperatures after a few hours at least! They have no options for shelter.

Shontelle had a fab time in Glasgow! Get the highlights.

Confessions of a Pop Star

I recently received the most incredible news from my team. "Shontelle! You're not going to believe this, but you have just been confirmed to open for NKOTB for their European tour!" "OMG! Are you serious?" "Yes! Yes! This is gonna be so good for you, girl!" "Thank you, thank you, thank you guys! I'm so excited! Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh, the right stuff!" "Hahahahaha. Yes!" How cool is that news?

There's more good stuff coming Shontelle's way! See what hot new movie she recorded the theme song for!

From Birmingham to Buffalo

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA: Shontelle, Sean Kingston, Metro Station. This was a fun show and it was also the first time I met Sean K. in person. He seems to be a cool dude.

Next was NASHVILLE! I was so excited about this show because Nashville is one of the music meccas of the world! Especially for songwriters like myself! This was a huge show and was called Acoustic Christmas. So it featured some really cool artists like Sara Bareilles, Saving Abel, Brandy, Metro Station, Boys Like Girls, Lady GaGa, and Kevin Rudolf. Brandy is super nice! I'm so happy to see her back on the scene again! On the way out of the venue, we got swarmed by a mob of kids who wanted pics 'n' autographs, and we hung out with them for a few minutes.

A Plane Pain

DEC 1
What a great night! I opened up for my label mate Akon's MySpace Show in NYC. It was a long day of hair and makeup prep and fittings, but in the end it was all worth it! The show was a major success and I really felt privileged to be able to share such a special night with Akon. It was the night before the big release of his album Freedom. Not only did the crowd show lots of love, but a number of our other music buddies passed through to support us, including Kardinal Offishal, Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled, and many more!
