I think Florida is my favorite state to play shows. I'm definitely not a fan of hot, humid weather, but the crowds in Florida always make it worth it. I remember a show we had on one of our first tours in a club that had no air conditioning during miserable August weather. The room was packed and the crowd sang every word to every song. The electricity kept turning on and off during our set. That show was such a mess, but the crowd made it amazing.
When we pulled into Pensacola on our day off, the weather was cooooold. I had to get out my winter jacket and gloves. Sometimes I get so used to playing shows every day that I don't know what to do with myself on a day off. I got a ton of rest and worked on a new song. I tried to walk around the area but I didn't get very far. It was too cold.
It warmed up a lot when we got to Orlando. I went into the Virgin Megastore with our guitar tech Nick so that I could pick up a CD. Almost as soon as we walked into the store, they started playing "Shake It." It feels really weird to be in a store where your song is playing. Such a strange moment.
Last night, I was thrilled because Saves The Day performed the songs from their album Stay What You Are straight through from start to finish. That was my favorite album of theirs, so it was one of the highlights of the tour for me.
Today, we're in Atlanta. Our label mates Boys Like Girls are in town so we're hoping to chill with them today. We have a radio interview this afternoon and then a show tonight.
