Metro Station Saves The Day!

I remember a conversation I had with a friend of mine in college when I was home for spring break. We were both pursuing careers in music in different ways. She was a classically trained pianist, and I was teaching myself how to make trance music on a computer. She asked me what music I was listening to the time, and I happened to be obsessed with Saves The Day.

There are times when the music you hear connects exactly with what's going on in your life. Saves The Day was the soundtrack to my college experience. I'm not sure if a piano player understood what their music meant to me, but she was nice enough play along. I remember being thrilled that I could sing along to every song. It meant so much to me.

Today was the first day of our tour with Saves The Day, Armor For Sleep, Set Your Goals, and A Cursive Memory. We woke up in Seattle to cold and snow. Such a change from the hot and sunny weather we had in LA during our time off! We went to Guitar Center to pick up some last minute gear. It's funny to be recognized by strangers as being in a band, even if they don't always know what band we're in. Truckers and other random people will ask us for pictures and autographs. It's cool to be able to tell these people that we've played with bands like Motion City Soundtrack, Cobra Starship, Panic At The Disco, and now Saves The Day. Whenever we go to a Guitar Center, we always have the longest conversations with people there about music, bands, and anything else music related.

Soon after our trip to Guitar Center, we got picked up to go to Kiss FM in Seattle for an acoustic performance and interview. They actually checked our MySpace pages before the interview to see what dirt they could dig up. All they got on me is that I'm a fan of Mitch Hedberg -- nothing too terribly controversial. We have some pictures from the performance. It went really well and we had a good time.

When we got to the venue, we had a quick on-camera interview on our bus. We met some of the guys from the other bands and chilled before we played.

The show went surprisingly well. Sometimes it can be hard to get back into the routine of playing every night, but I guess we're getting used to it. The show sold out, the crowd was amazing, and we had no technical problems. What more could we ask for? I'm thrilled to be able to watch Saves The Day every night for the next five weeks or so. Some music just never gets old. It feels good to be back on tour.
