Meet Robert Hoffman

Hey everyone, Rob Hoffman here! This is a very exciting time for me, and the fine folks at ALLOY have given me this forum to talk with you and share some of what’s going on right now.

To start at the beginning, I was born in Gainesville, Fla. My interest in dance began once I saw Michael Jackson dance, I didn't know I wanted to be a "dancer," I just knew I had to obtain what it was that he had that made his body turn into something magical when he moved to the music. So, of course I started imitating Michael's moves, and in kindergarten my mom hooked me up with an after school dance class. My interest in movement also led me to train in Tae Kwon Do for a number of years. Around 4th grade, me and my buddies picked up the home video camera and started making short movies. They were usually horror flicks with as much blood as possible. Well, to this day, we're still doing the same thing in my downtime and that's where all my crazy Internet videos come from. I was way into baseball and basketball as a kid, but there came a point where I had to choose between dance rehearsals and sports, and I chose dance but I still love me some basketball.

In 2001, I accomplished something I had always wanted but never dreamed would come true when I won Mr. Dance of America. Cheesy, but true. A year after that, I was ready to move to LA.

For the past few years I've been having a blast making a career for myself in acting which all started one lucky night when the producers of You Got Served spotted me in a club and asked me to audition for them. I got the role and the choreography job the next day. After You Got Served, I met my manager who helped open up all the doors for me to get where I am today so I can do all the fun jobs like Wild N' Outand She's The Man and Step Up 2 The Streets.

If there is one thing I would attribute to my success above anything else, it would be my mother. She supported and loved me to the fullest extent no matter what and I believe that is the greatest gift you can give a child -- with it, the possibilities are endless.

OK, that's all for now, but I'm gonna keep you guys up to date with all the fun stuff I'll be doing leading up to my Step Up 2 The Streets premiere!!!
