Traffic sucks! Any logically minded person would think the same, especially after traveling nine hours from Portland, Ore., to Sacramento, Calif., overnight. After sitting in traffic for 30 minutes, we decided to ask a nearby Wal-Mart truck driver what was going on because all truck drivers have those convenient CV radios and know a lot about the roads. He told us power lines fell over the interstate and the roads wouldn't be cleared up for a while. Which leads me to say what I said before: "Traffic sucks!" I guess I can't complain, though. At least we're out of the snow for good.
I realized snow and ice are some of the scariest things known to a traveling artist, especially when a particular traveling artist hails from Florida where no one even knows what ice and snow are. Haha. I recently heard a story from a good friend and tour manager for The Cab that they wrecked and totaled their van in Wisconsin after hitting black ice while traveling in the snow. I know the wreck put a couple of them in the hospital with some serious cuts and bruises. It's a scary situation and luckily everyone was OK, but it makes you realize how freak accidents like that can happen to anyone around you. I guess my point here would be to cherish what you have today because you never know what will happen tomorrow. I think the only perk about the accident The Cab went through is getting to drive Fall Out Boy's old van and trailer until they get the money to afford another van and trailer. That's a pretty awesome experience if you ask me.
California! It's definitely all that people make it out to be. So many songs talk about this state as something special and I'm slowly realizing how cool it actually is. We're finally here and I couldn't be happier. Anyone who lives in this state is a very lucky person. I've been all over the US, Japan and Australia and soon the United Kingdom and nothing compares to the amazingly beautiful scenery California has. It's definitely a winner in my book. I hope one day you'll all be able to experience this place and the other continents as I have. If you get the chance, you'll never regret it. <3
