How do you prepare for crying scenes?
These types of scenes are never easy, but I'm really against using tear sticks. First, I try to really put myself in the character's shoes and think about why they're so sad. Usually, when the character is in such a place that would cause them to cry, I can find that place in myself and cry as well. If that doesn't work, I think about my childhood dog that died recently and use that. Or anger -- if I repeat the lines in my head with an edge of anger and hold my breath, the tears will come.
