How do you think your hip hop background has helped with the voicing?
It helps that I know my voice, and when my voice is not 100 percent, I can try and nurse it back to health. Plus, I'm pretty familiar with a recording studio and what I need and when I need certain things -- volume, reverb, or any kind of thing that I need in there vocally. I'm used to being in the studio, so I kind of know my way around things or what it takes for a scene to be good or bad.
What do you need when you're in the studio?
I like to have a good scent, maybe some dark chocolate burning or some candles. I like to have some hot water and honey just to smooth out the voice a little something, something. Warm it up, those vocal chords. It depends on what I'm recording.
