There's a definite switch in sound with this album: the lyrics are very much you, but the sound is a little bit different. What sparked that change?
Yeah, the songs are slightly different because I wanted to change it up slightly and do something a little bit more electronic and a bit more danceable compared to the last record.
What were you listening to when you were writing and recording?
We were listening to a lot of Coldplay and Keane and bands like New Order, a mixture of modern, big-sounding pop music and a little bit of more-from-the-'90s pop music.
What song on the record do you think is most emblematic of the album as a whole?
I would say "The Fear," the first single, because it sums up where I'm coming from.
