What interested you about this role?
I'm from Oklahoma and that's the show choir heartland, man. What I really loved about the role is that the writer totally understood everything about it: it doesn't take it too seriously and it laughs at the comedic elements of it and it's really a great celebration of the crazy world of show choir.

How are you like and unlike Royce?
I'm like Royce in that I know I'm a ham. Ever since I was old enough to walk, I've been dancing, and ever since I've been old enough to talk, I've been singing. But Royce gets in trouble because he's so much of a spotlight-seeker. It makes him lose sight of relationships and walk all over people, and at the end of the day, it makes him a villain. I would like to think at the end of the day I'm a really nice guy and not so mean and self-centered as Royce is.
