Of all the characters in HJNTIY, what made you play Mary?
I was directing a film and doing Grey Gardens while we were producing this, so the role was smaller and I could take it on. Also, if I could have chosen any character, I would have chosen her because I feel like her. I actually contributed obsessively to the development of the character because I'm so confused by technology. I'm a girl who doesn't understand it. I don't really have it in me. I don't really know how this works. I miss the old days. I was like, "This is me!"

So you're not into texting and stuff?
I mean, I'll do it, but more of a "meet you there" kind of thing. The quippy "Let's build a relationship based on these one-liners back and forth" I'm not in.
