What drew you to this movie?
I always wanted to work with Drew. I've been a huge fan of hers for a long time, and I've always liked the stuff she was made of. She seemed like a real class act, and she's a young Hollywood icon that's making wise choices. I was interested when I heard that she was doing another project and that she wanted to meet me for a role -- I was excited about that. And when I read the script, I liked that the characters were unapologetically themselves, that they weren't clichéd, and it felt very authentic to me. It's rare to find an authentic romantic comedy that doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but is a -- I mean, I hate the phrase "slice of life," but it feels that way. I thought it would be fun to be part of a big collaborative process.
