What does the name "The Glass Passenger" refer to?
It's actually a lyric from the song that I wrote early in the process of writing songs more directly for this record, and as it related to that song, it was self referencing. The lyric was "keep your eyes on the road/I'm a glass passenger," and that's sort of a reference to this period of time where myself and the band were on tour right before I found out I was sick. I didn't actually end up recording that song, but I kept the term around because it just seemed to say something to me -- this idea of sitting in some place of imperilment and not really being protected and also happening to be very fragile, too. It became less self-referencing over time as the record became a little bit more broad and a little bit more of an analysis of the general human experience rather than just my own personal experience.
